David Chevalier - Co. C 109th N.Y.V.
There’s a rather funny story about my mother’s grandfather, David. When ever she was asked about her line and if there were any Civil War Veterans, she always said that all of her relatives came from France and David never came here. This went along with the Davey Chevalier Family Bible so nothing went any further.
That is, until one day when my wife was taking a photo of a head stone in the upper
Cemetery in Tracey Creek,N.Y. She did literally fall over his head stone. Now there was a real mistery.
Cheryl called a professional researcher names Ted Jones to help find out the truth. A short time had gone by and Ted came to the house and asked her if she really wanted to know about David. The answer was yes.
Well, it seems David was born on the family farm in Albany County. This farm had been in the family before the French and Indian War. When the Civil War broke out, David ran to the nearest enlistment office and joined the army. He collected his bounty, and soon joined the rest of his soldier friends for the train ride to New York and Washington,D.C.
